Fibro Awareness Week

How can it be that I didn't even know about the day or week until today? Bah!
DA has a news article about Fibromyalgia Awareness Week here that I suggest you have a read if you have the chance: [link]
As self-centred as it is bringing this up in comparison to other awareness weeks that DA has, this one means even more to me since it's something that I myself suffer from. And as someone who loves to do her art, it sucks even more since one of the main locations the muscular pain can hit is the hands - and I get it a lot.
The article there pretty much explains what it is and what the symptoms are.
In a way, it's sort of like Chronic Fatigue. Something that is very hard for other people to understand unless they have it themselves, and there are still doctors out there who don't belive it is a real condition (I sometimes wish I could meet them myself, slap them across the face and say 'imagine that on a daily basis because I know for a fact the pain is real' ). *cough*
Anyways, it's something I try to not bring up a huge amount about my personal life, at least publicly. But it does suck to have it. I know myself and others who have fibromyalgia have learned to deal with the pain and can hide it - so it's hard for others to tell when we're having shooting pains in our limbs. The insomnia is something else that hits me hard myself, and god I miss nights where I could get good, peaceful deep sleep sometimes - that was years ago.
So, I figured it would be something I'd bring to attention. Obviously it's not going to get the spotlight like things such as the Breast Cancer Awareness week (with some respect, after all, as Fibromyalgia isn't life-threatening, just painful to live with) so here's my random little wave of support for the week and the day (which is pretty much over as I type this, but it still counts, right?)
And an additional bit of love to all those around DA who also suffer from it - there seems to be more than I first thought. Keep on doing your thing, guys!

I guess it's probably wishful thinking, since I got this image at this size from prehaps the best public source of turtles stuff on the internet, but...does anyone know if there's a larger size of this image anywhere online?
I'd really love to use it for a wallpaper or just so that I can get a better view of it. It's from an abandoned season 7 concept (before they agreed on the current season 7 plot), but I still love this picture and would love to find a bigger version of it.
...I think it's cute, alright? At least, Mikey and his kid version are adorable.

My big collection of photos from the conventions are going to be delayed, I'm afraid. Mostly because I have A LOT to sort through, and some I can't remember who took them, and I want to give people credit where it's due. X3
However, my live journal has some posts with several large poolings of photos in them, so you can find those there if you really want to see them.
It's currently freezing down here. This makes me oh-so-happy! I love winter and scarves and hats and coats. Also means my friends and I can have hot soup and curl up under blankets and watch DVDs in the evening.
Just a shame that my new job's going to require working outdoors almost all the time. I start work at the zoo on Monday. I'm so, so, SO excited. I don't think I've ever looked foward to a job so much in my life, sans a few freelance art jobs. XD

September can't come soon enough! ;_; I want to see the new season so bad!
(though I still think Casey's bangs need to be a lil' bit ruffled up. XD But YAY CGI movie designs!)
They're still debating the turtles having pupils under their masks this season. I can see it working since some of the draft sheets have been realsed and they look good. I just hope, since they're going with movie designs, that Mikey has his blue eyes. XD That was adorable! They also appear to be keeping in the hight difference between the 4 brothers, so Raph's still a freaking BEAR in height.
I'm feeling the winter chill again. Time to have a hot shower and run for the saftey of a nice, thick duvet for the night.

Okay, wow. My report's gonna be delayed as I need to gather together more pictures from christchurch, but videos are pouring in on youtube for both the Wellington and Christchurch Armageddons (both were a blast, btw. And a big hi to all those I met down South in Christchurch. :3 Most of all to the Aizen for being awesome and the Byakuya for saving my freezing butt the day I wore my Tess cosplay and putting her captain's coat over my shoulders ;_; ).
And to Angie, too, for letting me stay with her down South.

For the record, he's 12 and made that costume himself. And yes, his mouth moved too (and he cosplayed the best turtle too *COUGH* X3).

I also have a question to those attending Doujin Overload this July up in Auckland. last year I sold this piece there:
Well, as you know I've been working on a follow-up to that piece, but this time with a beach scene instead. Originally I was making it for myself, but I would just have no where to keep it (it's very large, on illustration board and such). I was wondering, if people were interested in buying it, if I finish it up for Doujin Overload this year and sell it there. Would there be any takers? The one above was sold for $150NZ there, so it would either be that price or a bit higher this time. I'm just curious to know if it's worth me finishing it up and taking it up there to sell or not.
Bah. I must go sleep now since I have to catch up on all this missed sleep from two weekends of conventions.
And to Angie, too, for letting me stay with her down South.

The Wellygeddon convention last weekend
We had such a blast at this con. Wellington is always my fave Armageddon to go to. Everyone's so fun and friendly and there's always twice as many cosplayers here than there is at Auckland (which is odd considering Auckland con is twice as big).
A big hi to all those who I met over the weekend. I'd list names but I suck at names and there was so many people. A lot of you are showing up around DA, though, so I bet it won't be long before I find you! X3
Photos are due to come. I'm thinking of waiting until after the Christchurch convention this weekend before putting them all up in one big, long entry. For now, I'll scatter some in this journal (if you know me well, you would have seen the ones already up at live journal).
Waiting in line to get in. Myself as Demyx, ~Yugisfangirl as Tak (featuring Harry the Heartless), ~ShimmeringSnow as Roxas and ~gamergal (out of cosplay).

Day one was mostly running around for fun and giving/reciving hugs from all the other FF and KH cosplayers (yay! Another Demyx! She was so adorable! :3). That evening we had a dinner with Spike Spencer and Lisa Furukawa, both who are such lovely people. Spike is a mass of quotes that I need to write down. That was quite an entertaining dinner.
Pyro: My dad owns a winery.
Spike: *wide eyes* MARRY ME!

Sunday I got to wear my cosplay of Wander from 'Shadow of the Colossus'. I love each and every person who knew who I was. Even little kids! You guys rock!

The Christchurch convention this weekend
So one con down, one more to go. Flying to Christchurch really early this Friday morning to spend the day in town with Pyro and Angie, then Saturday I'm playing Hanataro in the big Bleach group and having another dinner with Spike and Lisa (and maybe Liam too if he is able to). Sunday I'm cosplaying as Tess (Jak 2, Jak 3 games), and my Blaster gun is 80% finished so I'm gonna be working on it like CRAZY tommorow! XD
I promise LOTS of photos once I'm back from that con, as well as videos too (I have some on my computer, but Krista filmed them so I figure she will be putting them on youtube herself at some point.
If you're coming to Christchurch Armageddon, be sure to say Hi. :3
A note to commissioners:
Sorry for the lack of anything right now, guys. Once this weekend is over I'll be back in gear and working like crazy to get them done. Rest assured I have sketched out drafts for the next couple, so there has been progress on them. :3

I have none. XD Nah, I love you guys and sorry for the lack of updates on both art and the likes. I have a lot of half-done original stuff, plus the turtle toddler pics to finish PLUS the Demyx doujin (yes, it IS still alive! XD) that I may be able to put up soon as Jess has found some time to get into her arty groove again and has been colouring the next page. Abby and I are also making turtle toddler plushies, AND I have a short one-shot comic I'm making for Jess for her birthday (I dunno if I'll share it online, but I'll share the coloured cover illustrations and such).
